Session #1 "Welcome to the Account" - 3/8/2010

Skinny Pete: says Gerard & Antoine Boissiere are looking to crew a privateer excursion. Antoine approached Pete and asked if we (PCs) would be interested in joining the crew. Meet them at the grog shop.

Meeting w/ Gerard at grog shop: Gerard is fat, rude (belching & farting) but manly and virile. Rene does the talking. Gerard proposes that a ship was forced to berth in a Hispanolia cove due to hurricane; canoes are ready to attack; need more men; will you join us? Rene negotiates for more than a standard share. Gerard agrees that Rene will get 1.5 as "Master", Sambo gets 1.5 "Gunner", everybody else gets 1.25 (except Skinny Pete). Everybody makes their mark.

Plan: Surprise w/ simultaneous attack from two canoes at 4 bells just before false dawn.

Action:

PCs w/ Pete & Jemmy: we row across channel to Hispanolia. Gerard says Spanish supply ship (cromster) is around headland.

Everybody sneaks up the side of the ship after silent navigating by Rene; Sambo silently guts a drunken sailor. Herrick hamstrings a dicing guard. Each guard is dispatched quietly, the quarterdeck is ours.

Captain Sosas appeared through the hatchway. Sambo smashed his blunderbuss with his cutlass, destroying the firearm. Rene demanded the Captain to surrender, but Sosas fired at him with a pistol, grazing his cheek. Jemmy and Skinny Pete attacked the Captain to no effect. Kennit was guarding the central hatch when two sailors emerged but swung wildly with his cutlass. Herrick is nicked by a blade, then draws blood and renders unconscious the sailor. Sambo takes a massive swing at the Captain and scratches his arm. Rene, infuriated by Sosas rudeness, fires his pistol and his musketball lodged in the Captain's left elbow. Kennit thrust his cutlass into the sailors belly, scoring black blood from the spleen. The injured Sosas struck with the butt of his pistol at Skinny Pete's kneecap, causing pain and suffering for Pete.

Rene moves to the cargo hatch and urges the crew to surrender. Sosas backs down in the hatch and fires at poor Skinny Pete, injuring his shoulder and rendering him unconscious. Jemmy, infuriated by Pete's injury throws his cutlass at the Captain but missed badly. Herrick dove down the companionway and tackled the Captain, joined by Sambo. Finally, the captain begged for mercy.

Gerard and Antoine Doissiere finally showed up on deck...

Articles signed by the PCs and the Boissiere crew:

Article I. That no man shall open, or declare to any person or persons, who they are, or what designs they are upon; and any persons so offending shall be punished with immediate death.

Article II. For the loss of a right arm six hundred pieces of eight; for the loss of a left arm five hundred pieces of eight; for a right leg five hundred pieces of eight; for the left leg four hundred pieces of eight; for an eye one hundred pieces of eight; for a finger of the hand the same reward as for the eye.

Article III. He that shall be found Guilty of Cowardice in the time of engagements, shall suffer what Punishment the Captain and the Majority of the Company shall think fit.

Article IV. If any Gold, Jewels, Silver, &c. be found on Board of any Prize or Prizes to the value of a Piece of Eight, & the finder do not deliver it to the Company for division he shall suffer what Punishment the Majority of the Company shall think fit.

Article V. Good Quarters to be given an enemy when Craved. Ransom of prisoners to be split amongst the Company or alotted as spoils at time of division as Quartermaster shall think fit.

Article VI. No striking one another on board, but every man's quarrels to be ended on shore with sword alone.

Article VII. The captain and quartermaster to receive two shares of a prize: the master, boatswain, and gunner, one share and a half, and other officers one and quarter.
