Li Guan Di was once a Lieutenant in the Capellan army, hailing from a minor Noble family. He had a promising career ahead of him when his Father, Li Quan Goo, was dismissed in disgrace from his Government position. Li Quan Goo was an overseer in a nail factory on the Capellan world of Sian. The factory foreman decided to meet their monthly quota of 100 tons of nails, the workers would just make one, 100 ton nail. Technically this was acceptable to the bean counters but, of course, a 100 ton nail had no practical application. When Li Quan Goo protested and would not relent he was fired. Li Guan Di was forced to resign his commission and rather than live as an outcast decided to become a Mercenary.
